Poppy jasper beads have also been called with the name of brecciated jasper, which are usually sun-dried and encompass oxidized iron-rich clay. Some of the cracks which usually usurped in it have been filled via other crystals or substances. One of the important things about jasper beads has been that they contain foreign material to the tune of around 20 percent in it and are often multicolored, spotted or have strips on it.

As a major part of poppy jasper beads come from Morgan Hill area in California, USA. You can get its other variety from places like Russia, Germany, France, India and Pakistan besides United States.

There has been no ancient history associated with this masterpiece but only a few people know from where this precious stone came from. In reality brecciated or poppy jaspers have come into jewelry items from their original state of rocks probably discovered from private residential property when some beautiful red rocks were unearthed from the Morgan Hill private area. These rocks when broken into small pieces are glued along with other rocks. All the crystal particles in it are angular in shape and look bigger than sand, they are often bordered by enhanced grained matrix. Thus poppy jasper contains 1 to 5mm chunks in it.
